Band gwerin-indi-pop sydd wedi'u leoli ym Machynlleth yw Lo-fi Jones. Cafodd y band eu sefydlu yn 2020 gan dau frawd barfog o Fetws-y-coed, Liam a Siôn Rickard. Maent yn plethu straeon o gariad a cholled mewn tirwedd sy'n newid yn barhaus, gan fynd a'r gynulleidfa ar daith hwylus ac annisgwyl.
Rhai o'r uchafbwyntiau Lo-fi Jones hyd yn hyn oedd ennill Brwydr y Bandiau Gwerin yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol (2023), Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau (2023), Gŵyl Ffrinj Abertawe (2023), Cân i Gymru 2023, Noson Y Fari Lwyd yn Ninas Mawddwy (2023), Gŵyl Tân yn y Mynydd (2022), Gŵyl y Pethau Bychain (2022) a sawl berfformiad ar y rhaglen Noson Lawen. Yn 2021, mi wnaeth Lo-fi Jones cydweithio dros y we gyda Catrin Toffoc ac Irfan Rais ar y gân werin, “Ble Rwyt Ti’n Myned?”.
Fel deuawd, rhyddhawyd eu EP cyntaf yn Tachwedd 2022. Mae sawl cân o'r EP wedi cael ei chwarae ar Radio Cymru, a chafodd "Slag Heap" ei enwebu yn y categori "Cân Saesneg gorau" yn y Gwobrau Gwerin 2023. Mae Lo-fi Jones wedi cael ei chynnwys yn y blogiau cerddoriaeth Y Selar a Fresh on the Net.
Yn 2024, derbynodd Lo-fi Jones cymorth arianol gan BBC Cymru Wales a Chyngor Celfyddydau Cymru trwy'r Gronfa Lansio Gorwelion.
Forged in slate and small-town angst in the foothills of Eryri by bearded brothers, Liam and Siôn Rickard, Lo-fi Jones weave tales of love and loss in an ever changing landscape. With lyrics in both Welsh and English, and their heady mix of folk, tragi-comic pop and indi-Gymreig, Lo-fi Jones like to take audiences on a journey, where moments of gentleness are juxtoposed with surrealism, anarchy, and a party atmosphere.
Some of Lo-fi Jones's highlights so far have been winning Battle of The Folk Bands at the National Eisteddfod (2023), performing in the final of Cân i Gymru (2023), Seswin Fawr Dolgellau (2023), The Swansea Fringe (2023), Behind The Barn Festival (2023), Folk on the Lawn (2023), the Mari Lwyd cellebrations in Dinas Mawddwy (2023), Fire In The Mountain Festival (2022) and Gwyl Y Pethau Bychain (2022). The band have performed twice on Noson Lawn for S4C. In 2022, they released their debut EP, Llanast Yn Y Llofft (a mess in the bedroom). Most of the songs on the EP have been broadcast on BBC Radio Cymru, and several have been played on Radio Wales. "Slag Heap" from the EP was nomiated in the "best original English language song" category in the Welsh Folk Awards 2023. In 2021, the band collaborated with Catrin Toffoc and Irfan Rais on the folk song "Ble'r Wyt Ti'n Myned?". The band have been featured in Welsh online music magazine, Y Selar, and UK music blog, Fresh on the Net.
In 2024, Lo-fi Jones were awarded Horizons Launchpad Funding by BBC Cymru Wales and the Arts Council of Wales.
